Brompton S Type

For many, this is the prettiest Brompton, and it is the lightest. The grips are lower and further forward than on the M Type, giving a sporty riding position which complements the positive feel of these bikes.

The key S Type is the S2L (above left) and also available as S2L-X 'the superlight' (above right) - Brompton's derailleur system turns a single-speed into a nimble 2-speed bike without the weight of a gear hub; the result is a light bike that can handle most journeys.

Brompton do not offer standard models because nothing we build is standard: every bike is built by hand from scratch. You can find out more about how we build our bikes in About Us.

There are three types of Brompton, with different handlebar styles designed for different styles of riding and use.

The many variations possible with a custom-built B-spoke order can be seen in the Bike Explorer, but we have also created a key model to represent each Brompton type.

The key models come properly kitted out, ready for the road, with mudguards and lighting. For those looking for weight savings, each of these key models can be built to a superlight specification (with the suffix "-X"), with front forks, rear frame and mudguard stays made out of titanium.
